not exactly a banner year for fourth of july festivities due to rain.
i had visions of outside photos running around in my head...picnic, dirty kids, watermelon, fireworks, etc, etc, etc...
alas, we spent the whole day inside while it drizzled continually outside. but all was not lost! it was fun to hang with uncle tim (freshly in from texas and ready to cook), uncle carlos, danielle, grandma alice, a houseload of kiddos and smattering of extended family. bryant even made it over to papa's with 3/4 of the crumbsnatchers in tow.
right around after dusk, the rain finally ended. so brave, stoic, fearless uncle carlos went outside to set off a couple of fireworks in the backyard (while the kiddos pressed their noses against the kitchen glass to watch).
then it was outside to play with a few sparklers....i guess all is well that ends well.
preparations the day before (yes, for a princess, doing the nails is a huge part of preparation...):
(please note: the ginormity of uncle tim's biceps. everyone together say, "ooooooo. ahhhhhhhhh. ohhhhhhhhhh.")
watermelon tastes just as good when eaten inside as outside, i guess {sigh.}:
watching brave uncle carlos risk limbs and arrest to set off fireworks:
sparklers! it's just not the fourth without 'em:
(thanks uncle marcus for helping to keep us land of the brave and
home of the free. hope you got to see some fireworks in afghanistan...)
{HAPPY 8TH BIRTHDAY, KYLEIGH!!!!}
