Today is a monumental day in the history of our nation. As a woman, I would joyously celebrate the victory of Sarah Palin. But as an African-American, I sit and wait with guarded excitement. (And no, I am not voting for Obama because he is of African decent, my vote is cast based upon who I believe can best lead our nation out of the mess we are in).
After a lengthy and thought-provoking conversation about morality and politics, a dear friend of mine wrote this, a quote from John Piper:
Vote, but don't vote like your life depends on it, because it doesn't. Don't be too elated when your man wins, and don't be too hysterical when your man loses.
It's a great reminder of the blessings we have in this country to freely, without fear and intimidation, discuss our beliefs and then vote based on them.
So go! Go vote now!
