oh, the pressure!
first, you have to pick both girl and boy names that you like or that don't remind you of that girl in middle school or person you use to date.
then, if you find out the gender, you begin bartering and compromising with your spouse.
big guy likes kyle. i like kree (remember cree summers from "a different world").
kyle matea or kree michal???
matea: the feminine form of matthew from the bible. means gift from God.
michal: king david's first wife in the bible who loved him and hid him from her father's jealous rage.
my parents totally ruined the baby naming creativity in that all the girls in my family start with "k"...karen, kim, kristin, kyleigh, kortne, karrissa, kai, kennedy...grandbaby number twelve cannot break the tradition.
we've been calling the belly both to see which one sounds better.
so the problem...
in public, folks think kai is an asian boy (kai young), ask me if colby is named after kobe bryant (to which i respond, "no, the cheese"), and wonder why bryce is the only one who does not have a "k" sounding name (now he will grow up thinking he was delivered by the fed-ex man.)
i don't want that confusion for this one.
but i think...kyle sounds close to kai phonetically and she already responds when i yell bryce's name thinking i am calling her (yeah, i don't understand that one). kree will most likely be called kree-ree which reminds me of ree which, for some strange reason, reminds me of rerun on "what's happening?" (remember that show??)
so, it might be a game day decision when she pops out and we see what she looks like...
kyle matea or kree michal.
OR we could always name her after that girl in georgia, la-a.
pronounced "ladasha"....
seriously....
